Xiao Story Quest - How To Unlock?

Use Story Keys to Unlock
To unlock Xiao's Story Quest, you need to use story keys. You can obtain Story Keys by doing daily commissions and keep a maximum amount of 3 keys. You can unlock the story by heading to the Quest page of Menu.

| 1 | Check the area close to Wangshu Inn and defeat the Hilichurls there |
| 2 | Talk to Starsnatcher then his 3 followers. Talk to Starnatcher again |
| 3 | Go to Wanwen Bookshop in Liyue Harbor |
| 4 | Talk to Jifang and get the book "Yakshas: The Guardian Adepti" |
| 5 | Return to Starnatcher's location near Wangshu Inn. Defeat the Hilichurls there |
| 6 | Follow the marker to the location of the corrupted Hilichurls. Talk to Xiao |
| 7 | Follow Xiao to the location of the karma-heavy cavern |
| 8 | Enter and clear the dungeon |
| 9 | Go to the southern face of Mt. Tianheng. Talk to Pervases |
| 10 | Collect the Censer and the 7 Seven-Star Lamps |
| 11 | Head back to the shrine |
| 12 | Go to Xiao's Location south of Liyue Harbor |

4. Get The Book "Yakshas: The Guardian Adepti" - Tips
Books Found On Table
Although Jifang says that the book is on the shelf, Yakshas: The Guardian Adepti can be found on the table at the end of the shop.
8. Enter & Clear The Dungeon - Tips
Xiao Will Constantly Be In Bane Of All Evil Mode
Inside the domain, you can only use Xiao and he will permanently be in his Bane Of All Evil mode. In this state, he will have higher damage, AoE, and jumping height, but he will constantly take damage over time.
Heal By Attacking & Defeating Enemies
It's a bad idea to dally around the domain as Xiao will take constant damage and the only way to heal is by attacking enemies found inside. Enemies only spawn at specific areas in the dungeon.
Make Use Of Plunge Attacks
Xiao's main source of damage comes from his plunge attacks as it benefits from the buffs of his Bane Of All Evil Mode. Jump and immediately plunge to deal AoE Anemo damage to enemies!
Use Dash To Reposition/Chase Down Enemies
Since you won't be needing your dash to fuel your Elemental Burst, you can focus on using its either to reposition or chase after enemies. This is a great way of escaping from Metachurls' swing attacks.
Jump Is Heightened
You can simply jump to get to higher ground during this dungeon. It may take a bit of getting used to as controlling it might be hard at first, especially during platforming areas.
10. Collect The Seven-Star Lamps - Tips
Found In Front Of The Shrine
Except for one of the Seven-Star Lamps which can be found to the side of the shrine, most of them can be found lining the front of the Shrine. You can easily find them as they are mostly next to each other.
13. Start The Ritual - Tips
Requires An Archer Character
You will need to shoot the waists of the 2 statues for the ritual and to do that, you will need an archer character. It doesn't matter which element they are!
Unlocks The Origin Of The Lanterns Quest
The Origin Of The Lanterns Quest will be unlocked upon completing Xiao's Story Quest. You can find it in your quest tab and it's a required quest to unlock the Lantern Rite Festival event!

Alatus Chapter is Xiao's story quest added in the version 1.3 update of Genshin Impact and was released on February 10, 2021. It's unlocked for free as part of the Lantern Rite Event.
