Focus On Exploration & Quest Progression First
Before AR40, it's best to have your top priority be exploration and clearing quests. Aim to unlock all the regions available, and to unlock all possible regions that you can.
Collect All The Different Oculus
Each region have their own version of Oculus and collecting them is quite beneficial since it does increase Stamina! We recommended collecting them starting with Mondstadt and Liyue first since they have the least number of Oculus compared to other regions, making it easier to get Stamina.

Complete As Much Archon Quests & World Quests
Some Archon Quests are locked behind progression so do as much as you can when below AR40. The same goes for World Quests since they can be locked behind Archon Progression too!

Collect As Much Primogems As You Can
Exploring is quite fruitful as well since it can net you a substantial amount of Primogems. You can use this to pull on limited-time banners to get 5-star characters that can significantly strengthen your roster!

You don't have to keep pulling on banners to get characters since there are quite a few you can unlock for free! Unlocking most of them are pretty simple and quite worth it since some of them are incredibly strong!

Have At Least 1 Viable Team
It's very important to have at least one team that can be used for farming and exploring before you get to AR40. Get them to the highest level you can, which is Level 60, and have their weapons upgraded to the max for the World Level.
Do Not Worry About Artifacts
Do not worry what artifacts your characters have for now. Give them the artifacts you have available even if their stats are not the best and upgrade them. It really does not matter for now if your characters have the best set or best stats.
Farm For Materials With Your Resin
Before getting to AR40, materials drops is not quite favorable especially for Artifacts. Get the most of your Resin by farming for materials with guaranteed drops instead, such as weekly bosses, and talent book and weapon ascension domains.

Why Are Artifacts Not Recommended to Farm?
Below AR40, 5-Star Artifacts are not guaranteed to drop from Domains. You can farm for them, but don't put too much time and resin in them. Farm just enough for you to give your characters a full upgraded set regardless of the stats.

Local Specialties are materials characters use to level up so stocking up for them before you get to AR40 is also recommended. This will not require Resin but should still be among your priorities to farm so you can immediately level up your characters upon getting to AR40.
Local Specialties Map Locations & Where To GetSave Up Fragile Resins As Much As You Can
Fragile Resin is best saved to be used for farming upon getting to AR40 instead. This is due to domains having better drops at higher World Levels. Keep as much as your Fragile Resin since you will need to farm quite a lot once you've unlocked higher levels at AR40.
