No Known Release Date Yet As Playable Character

Istaroth has no confirmed release date nor is she confirmed to become a playable character. As one of the Shades, it is somewhat unlikely she will be playable but there is always a chance for her playability after later story arcs.

Mentioned and Hinted in Quests

Istaroth has been mentioned in multiple quests and theorized by the Traveler to have been directly affecting some events in Teyvat. In the latest Archon Quest interlude, "A Space And Time For You," Istaroth was shown to have a hand in Khaenri'ah's doom.

Who Is Istaroth?

Istaroth is one of the Shades created by the Heavenly Principles. She is the Ruler of Time who was theorized to have a hand in the creation of the Sacred Sakura.

Also Known as Tokoyo Ookami and Kairos

Istaroth has been worshipped in Mondstadt and Enkanomiya in the past. In the book, "Before Sun and Moon," she was present when the Enkanomiyans were trapped in the ocean and was written to have been aiding them. Since the Shades do not like being called by their name, the Enkanomiyans called her as Kairos which then resulted in her Narukami-style name being Tokoyo Ookami.

Created a Time Paradox with the Hibernation Chamber Keys

Due to Istaroth's intervention, the Abyssal twin chose to leave Khaenri'ah during its time of crisis. It was revealed that Istaroth allowed Direidyth to meet the Traveler in Natlan 500 years in the future to obtain the Hibernation Chamber key from them and caused the Keys that were originally only two in existence to become three during that time period.

Possibly Related to Venti

In various dialogues and in-game media, several hints were shown about their relationship. One example is how Istaroth is known as the Thousand Winds while Venti is said to be a single thread of the Thousand Winds before he became a god.

Istaroth has the same Voice Actor as Venti

Istaroth shares the same voice actor as Venti in all languages. Venti himself as various instances where he claims to have known the Traveler much earlier and also knew all songs from any time which could be further hints to his true identity.
