Choosing between the Tricolor Dango or Konpeito Candy will complete the quest itself, but it's only by choosing the Tricolor Dango that will continue the quest line.
Go Back The Next Day And Pick Up The Mysterious Item
If you choose the Tricolor Dango, go back to the shrine the next day (real time) and a mysterious item will be next to it. Pick it up and it will clear the condition! You should get the "O Shrine, Show Your Power Once Again!" in a few days.
