What Is The Age Verification For Genshin Impact?
Only For U.S. Players
In an official statement from HoYoVerse, they are now required by law to age verify the U.S. player accounts for Genshin Impact. It was one of the requirements of the settlement agreement Cognosphere has with the United States Federal Trade Commission.
What's In The FTC Agreement?
In another official statement from HoYoVerse in their website, it's been stated that the changes in the Wish UI and an addition of an Age Gate for in-game purchases will be added. The UI changes for the Wish screen has already been added in the 5.6 Update.
As stated in the last line of HoYoVerse's announcement, these changes will also be implemented in other HoYoVerse projects soon.
Starts Officially On May 20
While it's been announced that it will start on May 20, U.S. players are able to verify early on since the pop ups have started appearing already.
Dates To Remember For Verification

Aside from the account suspension, in-game friends list and chat records will be deleted if you have not completed the verification by July 18, 2025. While the deadline of verification appears to be a year later on July 2026, it is best that you do the age verification early if you are a US player.

If you already have a HoYoVerse account, opening the website will show this pop-up. Input your month and year of birth then press enter.

Some players worry that they won't be able to access Genshin Impact before the deadline. You can use the HoYoVerse Account website if you will be unable to do the Log-In method with the game. It's noticeably faster but you need to know your account details such as email and password.
Log In On Genshin Impact
Upon opening the game and attempting to enter it, you will be shown the pop up for age verification. This is automatic and some players have already done this method but if you haven't, check again by May 20.
