Maple Trees only grows on areas near Higi Village, Musoujin Gorge, and Serpent's Head. The small area can easily be found in the map since it's the only yellow patch of land in Yashiori Island.

Should not trust the description when they say 'Found at Narukami Island' because it's actually not really around the shrine's surroundings.
