Do you have to wait 24 hours or do something else to unlock it? I did all 16 stone pillars but I'm not seeing the Aranara. Already tried reloading the game but that didn't do anything.

Going to the right path from the hollow tree trunk towards the end is not a dead end, it has a Dendro totem to get through, a withering to defeat, and then connects with the nearby domain which used to be filled with water. For this quest you do want to go left though.
