You'll need to crossbreed black roses and then water them with a gold watering can for a chance to grow golden roses. In past games (like New Leaf), you needed to water withered black roses with a gold watering can.

3. Buds Can Appear Next Day
If you're lucky in cross-breeding your black roses, you may see golden rose buds growing in the empty spaces between your black roses.

After another day, the buds that have grown in the space between your black roses will bloom and turn into stunning golden roses.
