When Does Mail Arrive?

Mail Arrives The Next Day

Mail arrives on the day after it is sent. Items from villagers like Daisy Mae or Gulliver also don't arrive until the following day, so be careful!

Letters From Friends Arrive Instantly

Letters sent by your friends will arrive instantly. If they haven't arrived, try stepping inside of a house and reload briefly.

How To Move Your Mailbox

Unlock After Paying Off Your 3rd Loan

When you pay off your 3rd loan (348,000 bells), you'll become able to move the mailbox at will! Consider your island layout careful and place the box wherever you wish!

How To Pay Back Loans Efficiently

Pick Up With The Y Button

In order to move your mailbox, stand in front of it and press Y just like you would with any other item. You can place it by accessing your inventory. There are no limits to how many times you can pick up and place it, so feel free to move it around a lot!

Mailbox Limits & Deleting Mail

Maximum 300 Letters

You can store up to 300 letters in your mailbox! Once you've reached this limit, your oldest letters will start being deleted, so be careful!

Mail With Presents Is Prioritized

If you've exceeded the maximum of 300, don't worry. Letters which have a present attached to them will be prioritzed and saved! In other words, letters without presents will be deleted first! Still, we recommend you manage your mailbox and keep it organized!

Favorited Letters Won't Be Deleted

You can register a letter as a favorite by pressing the X button. No matter how old the letter is, it won't be deleted. You can use this to hold on to letters from your favorite villagers.
