Summer Shells can be found along the beaches on your island. Shells spawn as time passes, so it's best to gather them while also doing something else, such as fishing for sea fish.

Obtainable In The Summer

Summer Shells are, as you might expected, obtainable in the summer. For the northern hemisphere this means June to August, & for the Southern Hemisphere it's December to February.

How To Farm Summer Shells Efficiently

Check The Shores Meticulously

Summer Shell

The best way to get Summer Shells is to simply run along the coasts of your beach frequently. Seashells and coral respawn over time, so you'll want to check back multiple times in one day.

Pick Up Everything You See

If you leave the other shells you don't need on the ground, you'll effectively limit the chances of a Summer Shell spawning (as the number of items that can spawn is limited). Make sure to pick up all seashells and coral you see on the ground!

Move All Spawns To One Beach

Done

By using spawn manipulation techniques, you will be able to relocate all seashell/coral/bottle spawns to ONE beach. This will drastically speed up your farming.

How To Centralize Spawn Locations

Beach Item Spawn Manipulation Process

① Decide which beach you want items to spawn on

② Prepare a lot of furniture or fences

③ Place said furniture/fences on the water's edge

④ Wait until the next day

In order to do this, you'll have to block the spawn location on every other beach tile touching the sea! You can do this by placing furniture on tiles touching the water. You'll need about 120~150 pieces in total to do this.

We go over spawn manipulation in detail in the guide below so check it out:

Summer Shell Recipes & Uses

Summer Shells are primarily used in DIY recipes. For example, Water Flooring recipe above requires 6 Summer Shells.

Given that it's a seasonally limited item, you'll want to make sure you gather as many as possible while you can! You'll need a total of 30 to create 1 of every possible DIY recipe!

Get Recipes From Balloons

Availability PeriodNorth: 6/1 ~ 8/31
South: 12/1 ~ 2/28

Recipes which use Summer Shells can be obtained by popping balloons during the summer season. This is the only way to obtain them, so make sure you always pop balloons in the summer!
