Create Your Own Furniture & Tools
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you'll be able to do some DIY crafting! This means you'll be able to craft your own furniture and tools, even customize them, as long as you have the materials and the DIY recipe for them!

When you get to the island, Tom Nook will announce that there are DIY workshops which you can attend. These will teach you the basics of DIY crafting. You can also learn how to customize your own DIY crafts when you progress through the game.

1. Learn DIY Recipes
The first thing you need to do is to learn some DIY recipes so that they will be included in your recipe list. You need to open your inventory & manually select the recipe to learn them.

DIY recipes can be purchased from Resident Services or redeemed from the Nook Stop terminal with Nook Miles!
Can Be Checked With Nook Phone
You can also check your DIY recipes via the Nook Phone— a new tool that lets you easily access the new mechanics in the game!
Check Out Nook Phone Apps & Features!Can Be Found Via Message Bottle
You can pick up DIY recipes if you find message bottles in the sand on your island's beach. Open them up and you might find a recipe you haven't learned yet!
Can Be Learned By Picking Up Items
Another way to get DIY recipes is by picking up items or fishing up trash. Fishing up tires, cans, and even boots will let you learn unique DIY recipes!
2. Gather Materials
After learning the DIY recipe, check what crafting materials you will be needing. You can gather materials from a variety of sources in the island - trees, rocks, and more!
3. Craft In Workbench
After you have the materials and the DIY recipe, head over to a workbench and select the item you want to craft. After a short animation, the item will appear in your inventory.
Cannot Craft In Bulk Or From Storage
It is currently not possible to craft items which are in your storage space, nor is it possible to create more than one item simultaneously!
Can Also Craft In DIY Workbench
You can also craft items in a simple DIY workbench that you create yourself. This can be placed almost anywhere on the island, making it easy to create a work space!
Hold A To Craft Faster
Holding the A button will actually slightly increase your crafting speed! Press the button two times to get it over with faster.
