What Are Loans?
System For Paying Back Tom Nook
At the beginning of and over the course of the game, you'll have to take out loans from Tom Nook. These don't have interest or a time limit, so you don't need to worry!
No Interest Or Time Limit
Tom Nook's loans don't have any interest or time limit so you can keep playing New Horizons even if you have an outstanding bill to pay. However, you need to pay any loan first before taking out a new one.
Build A Bigger House
After paying off your loan, talk to Tom Nook and select "About my house". He will then ask you if you'd like to make your house bigger. By accepting, you can expand your house! Take Out Loans For Construction
When you decide to build your own home or make significant constructions on the island, you'll have to take out loans from Resident Services. These are normal loans and can be paid back with Bells.
