What Are Message Bottles?

Items That Wash Up On The Shore

海岸に落ちているアイテム

Message Bottles, or just Bottles for short, are an item that washes up on the shores of your island. Inside of them you can find a message from a Villager from somewhere in the world. They also contain DIY recipes (including seasonally-limited recipes!)

Only 1 Spawns Per Day

Only one bottle will spawn on your island per day. Note that if you change the time to a day you've already experienced, you'll still get a bottle with different contents, so consider using Time Travel if you want to farm these!

Use Spawn Manipulation To Farm

It can be frustrating to have to scour the perimeter of your island to find these bottles. To circumvent this, consider using spawn manipulation to make bottles spawn on only one side of your island!

What Is Spawn Manipulation?

The Process Of Fixing The Spawn Location Of An Object

Spawn Manipulation is, in short, a way to force an in-game object to spawn in a location of your choosing. In this case we're talking about Bottles on the beach, so this can help you concentrate bottles spawn on one side of the island, drastically reducing your movement time and making gathering far more efficient!

A Time-Consuming Process

Before undergoing this process, it's important to note that this method requires a lot of time and effort. You'll have to cover the entirety of your island in custom designs and cut down all trees, so this isn't something that can be done quickly. Either try to do it all in one go when you have time, or do it steadily over time.

How To Manipulate Bottle Spawns

Bottle Spawn Overview

Bottle Spawn Manipulation Process

① Decide which beach you want bottles to spawn on

② Prepare a lot of furniture or fences

③ Place said furniture/fences on the water's edge

④ Wait until the next day

① Decide On A Beach

First you'll have to pick which of the beaches on your island you want shells and bottles to spawn on! This is important because you'll be collecting these every day, so try to pick something close to your house.

② Prepare A Lot Of Furniture / Fences

You'll need to get a lot of items ready to act as "spawn blockers". This is because you actually can't place Custom Designs on tiles which are by the water's edge. Floor Lights are a good choice here because you can walk on top of them, meaning they won't get in your way while fishing!

③ Place The Furniture On The Shore

Once you've got all the furniture necessary, place it all along the water's edge! Remember, you need to cover up all tiles touching the water, so make sure to double check carefully when laying down furniture! If you drop an item and it doesn't fall on the water's edge, that means you've effectively covered up the right tile.

④ Check For The Bottle The Next Day

After placing all the furniture on the shore, change the date and check the following day. All your clams and bottles should be concentrated on the one beach area you left alone - this will save you a lot of time in the long run!
