To get clay, you need to hit rocks with either a shovel or axe. The materials that drops can be random between Iron Nugget, Stone, Money, or Clay.

You can also get clay by breaking rocks but only one out of the 3 materials will drop, making this method inefficient. It will only be worth it if you fast forward time.

Go On Mystery Tour With Nook Miles

If you don't have any more rocks to hit or break, book a mystery island tour. Use 2,000 Nook Miles to print a ticket then head to the Airport. You'll find more rocks to hit and break in deserted islands.
