Can You Chat in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
Communicate with Other Players through Chat
Talk to your friends and any other visitors on the island via Animal Crossing: New Horizon's chat function. Type out your greetings or whatever else you want and let your friends see your thoughts.
Open for All Players
Be careful of what you place in chat because everyone will be able to see your message. Do not post any personal information that might expose your identity.
How to Chat
Hold R Button to Open Keyboard
On your switch, press the R button to open the option to chat. You can input what you want to say through the keyboard that will show up.
Use the NookLink to Chat
You can also use the NookLink in the Nintendo Online App to chat. Since you don't have to press the R button, your character won't stop just so you can chat.
Is There Voice Chat?
Yes Through the NookLink
Players can also use voice chat to communicate through the Nintendo Online App's NookLink. This will allow you to talk with your friends seamlessly.
