| 2 | Talk to Tommy (Timmy) and help them upgrade Nook's Cranny > How To Build Nook's Cranny Guide |
| 3 | Go to the newly built Nook's Cranny |
| 4 | Help Tom Nook build 3 houses |
| 5 | After finishing the preparation above, you will be able to participate in the DIY Customization Workshop. |
| 6 | Make a Wooden wardrobe in the workshop and furniture customization will be unlocked! |
In order to unlock the furniture customization, you need to help Tom Nook set up 3 houses for new villagers. After that, take the customization workshop at Nook's Cranny.
What You Can Customize
You can customize furniture, tools, and even your Nook Phone. Many DIY items can be customized. Be sure to check the brush icon to see if the furniture is customizable or not.

3 Steps To Customize Your Furniture
| Steps | What To Do |

| 1 | Go to a DIY workbench and choose "Customize something" |
| 2 | Choose an item you have which can be customized |
| 3 | Choose the color and patterns and customize |
Select Paint Color & Pattern
By customizing, you can paint your item with your favorite colors and patterns. Some items have 2 different parts you can change. You can use your personal Custom Designs to tailor it to your liking.

In order to customize items, you'll need a certain amount of Customization Kits. After the workshop, Tom Nook will give you 50 kits but if you need more, you can always purchase a kit for 600 bells at Nook's Cranny.
How To Customize Your Nook Phone
You Need A Customizable Phone Case Kit
In order to customize your Nook Phone, you'll need to get a Customizable Phone Case Kit. You can get the kit by redeeming it for 1800 Nook Miles at the Nook Stop.

Similar to furniture, you can use the Custom Designs you've made to customize your Nook Phone. However, you can't use designs you've made with the Pro Design Editor.
How To Get Sable's Patterns
More Decoration Options With Patterns
When you are customizing, choose "Pattern" (the checker icon) to decorate using more unique designs. Note that this option can't be used for some items!
Get New Patterns From Sable
Visit the Able Sisters and talk to Sable everyday to become friends with her. Initially, she'll be a bit cold toward you, but if you keep talking to her every day, she'll open up!
> Friendship Mechanics GuideFriendship Can Only Increase Once Per Day
You will only be able to raise your friendship level with Sable once per day. This means that you'll have to make it a routine to talk to her every single day!
Gives You Patterns When You Become Friends
Once you've gotten your friendship level to a certain point, Sable will start to gift you various patterns. Your customization options will greatly increase if you do this, so make sure to get them all! There are 10 varieties in total.
