What Is A Money Tree?

A Tree That Grows Money

Money Tree

Everything you've been told about money not growing on trees does not apply in Animal Crossing - a Money Tree is a tree that will literally give you bags of money (bells) when you shake it!

Does Not Grow Back Bells

Keep in mind that the money tree will only give you bells when you shake it for the first time. Once the bells fall, it will not produce money anymore.

Keep Planting Money Trees

However, you can keep planting Money Trees as long as you find glowing holes on the ground.

Money Tree - How To Grow

Money Tree Planting Process

StepProcess
Find a spot with buried treasure.
Use a shovel to dig up said treasure!
Bury the money you just dug up
Wait 5-6 days
You now have a money tree

①〜② Find A Spot With Buried Treasure

Buried Treasure

First things first, you'll need to find a glowing spot on the ground outside. This indicates that treasure is buried there, so dig it up with your Shovel!

③ Plant The Money In The Hole

Bury

Next, though it may seem unintuitive, next plant some money in the hole you just dug up! We recommend putting in exactly 10,000 bells (the limit for one bag), because if you put in any more you'll lose money!

④〜⑤ Fully Grown In 5 Days

Money Tree

After 5 or 6 days pass, your pouch of money will have grown into a beautiful, profitable tree! Shake it thoroughly and reap the rewards.

How Much Money Should You Bury & Limit

Max Amount You Can Get Per Tree Is 30K

max

The amount of bell which grow on the tree will be 1/3 of the money you've buried. However, the maximum amount of bells that can grow on the money tree is 30,000 bells (10,000bells x 3). Do not bury more than 10,000 bell. Bury 10,000 bells to maximize your profit.

Note: Conflicting Reports

There have been multiple reports of people planting bags of 99,999 bells and having a tree provide them triple returns. We have not been able to confirm this ourselves and thus don't recommend you give this a try, as it seems to be highly random.

I believe it is somewhat random if you bury more than 10k, I personally bury 30k aswell but if you are starting out then it would probably be safer to just go with 10k every time

Bury 30,000. If you're lucky you will get back 90,000. If you're not, you'll get 3 bags of 10k which means you'll break even and not lose any money.

I buried 50k and got 150k, then I buried 99k and got back 30, so I guess it is random. I was super mad
