What Is A Lost Item?
Items Found Randomly On Ground
Lost items are a returning feature in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They are random items that you can find on the ground while exploring your island. Your goal is to return it to the owner!
Lost Items - How To Return
Find Lost Item On Ground
First things first, you need to find a lost item. These can usually be found under trees so be sure to check areas around your island that have a lot of trees.
Speak With Villagers
After picking up the lost item, speak with every villager on your island. They will point you towards the right villager to return the item to.
Return Item To Get Reward
When you return the lost item to the villager that owns it, they'll give you a thank-you reward. Rewards are usually random pieces of clothing & furniture.
Cannot Return If You Time Traveled!
If you time travel while a lost item is in your bag, you won't be able to return it to anyone. It will be an unknown item in your inventory so be sure to return it first before moving time forward. (If this happens, you can just sell the item, throw it out in a garbage can, or hand it off to Tommy.)
