A sand dollar can randomly spawn on the beach. Check all the shells that you find and stand by one to check if it's a sand dollar.

Sand Dollar Looks Like Pink Clam

The sand dollar will take the shape of a pink clam, different from coral or conch-shaped shells you will sometimes find on the beach.

Sand dollars will net you 120 Bells when sold in Resident Services or Nook's Cranny. Since they are commonly found on the beach, they can make you money fast early on in the game.
