What's Item Duplication Glitch?

A Glitch To Duplicate Items

An ACNH player found a glitch to duplicate items by using Decoration Mode in your room. Note that this glitch is not intended by the developer and will likely be fixed sooner or later in a future update.

Will Penalties Be Enforced?

We have not confirmed that any users have been penalized in any way for having used this glitch. However, we have confirmed some bugs such as the copied items sometimes not being able to be placed on top of a table. Please use this glitch at your own risk.

How To Duplicate Item

The following content covers how to duplicate items by using a glitch not intended by the developer. Since it might result in a penalty and could ruin your gaming experience, we do not recommend or endorse using this glitch.

What You Need To Prepare

2x2 size table
2x1 size table
2x1 size item you want to duplicate

Procedure Of Item Duplication Glitch

1	Clear your room and place a 2x2 table in the center of your room
2	Place a 2x1 table on the right side of the 2x2 table
3	Place a 2x1 item you want to duplicate on top of the 2x1 table
4	Press "▼" of your D-pad and enter Decorating Mode
5	Move your cursor on top of the 2x1 item and press "L1" & "A" to hold both the item and the table
6	Move the 2x1 table & item below 2x2 table. When doing this, be sure to do followings; (a) Do not rotate the 2x1 item & table (b) Overlap the top of the 2x1 table with the 2x2 table (see picture below). The 2x1 table should rotate automatically when you place it.
7	Grab the 2x1 table and item again. Place them on the left side of the 2x2 table. Again, make sure right side of the 2x1 table overlaps with the the left side of the 2x2 table. The 2x1 table should rotate automatically when placed on the floor.
8	Repeat step 6 and 7 a couple times.
9	Exit your room. Come back to your room again. You will see the 2x1 item has been duplicated
10	Collect the duplicated item in Decorating Mode (press "▼")

I Can't Pick Up The Duplicated Items

When you use this glitch, you sometimes might be unable to pick up the table or item you've duplicated. You need to enter Decorating Mode by pressing ▼ and press Y to place them into your storage.

New Mail Duplication Glitch?

Send mail to an existing resident on your island

A new variety of duplication glitch seemed to have been discovered by players last week. This method involves sending mail to another character on your island and logging out.

Requires Multiple Characters On Your Island

This method will require you to create multiple profiles (and therefore residents) on your island. You'll basically send items in the mail to your character, shut the game down, and the item will duplicate. We do not recommend or endorse using this method, but if you really want to try out, there are videos available on Youtube.
