  • An upgraded house
  • Infrastructure
  • Island Designer tool

Number And Type Of Furniture Is Up To You

When it comes to furniture, fences, etc, which ones you choose will ultimately come down to your preferences! If you're making a rather large hot spring district, you'll also need to make ample use of the Island Designer tool, as well as existing island infrastructure.

Plan Out Your Hot Spring Site

Hot Spring Site

↑ Using the island cleanup service to recycle a tree to make room.

First you'll want to plan out the exact scale of your hot spring project. In real life there are hot springs and baths of many sizes, including small secluded ones in mountain side inns, as well as large "super sentō" where dozens of people can fit. Choose what fits your island best and clear out the appropriate space!

Pave The Floor

Paving

Pave the floor of your area before placing furniture. This will make the process a lot smoother overall. At this point, you'll want to start thinking about the dimensions of the room and where you'll be placing items.

Place Furniture And Fences

Once you've fully paved the area, start setting down your fences and other furniture. We recommend changing up the fence you use on the inside and outside of your hot spring!

Making A Large Scale Hot Spring / Bathhouse

Add Areas Aside From Just The Bathhouse

Reception Desk (Resident Services)・・・

If you want to create a proper, large-scale bathhouse, you'll need to make more than the just the bath area itself! However, some of these areas will take a lot more time, so prioritize making a hot spring with the items you have at your disposal!

Divide The Rooms According To Type Of Bath

Rather than just placing all your baths in one room, it might be more realistic to separate the different types of baths you have into different rooms! You could even create a separate area and surround it entirely with trees!

Set Up A Men's And Women's Section

Men Only Sign

Hot Spring are traditionally separated by gender, so you could consider doing that as well! Using a Plain wooden shop sign and some custom designs, you can create a sign for Men and Women!

Transform Your House Into A Hot Spring

Pros・Easier to have separate smaller rooms
・Has a ceiling
・Can hang ornaments on walls
Cons・Have to sacrifice your own house to do so
・Becomes difficult to try to improve your HHA score

Another option for the particularly brave is to turn your entire house into a hot spring/bathhouse! Note that this method has its serious drawbacks: you'll not only lose the ability to freely customize your house, but it'll also make it harder to improve your HHA (Happy Home Academy) score. If you're going for HHA rewards, get them all before you build a hot spring!

Use Your 2nd House

If you don't want to give up your house to make a hot spring, consider making a second character and using their house instead! It will cost you more to actually build the house, but you won't have to sacrifice your main home, so it might be worth it.

Our Hot Springs

Writer 1's Hot Spring

Hot Spring A

Using the Pagoda I got from rescuing Gulliver I was able to really accent the Japanese-ness of my hot spring area. I also planted some Mums and Hyacinths, which are both very commonly seen flowers in Japan!

Writer G's Bathhouse

Bathhouse
WriterWriter GI was going for a more modern bathhouse feel here, and since this one isn't so big, it wasn't very difficult to make at all. I personally think a cold drink and a fan are a must after stepping out of a hot bath.
