Step	Details
1	Make sure you do this before May 31st!
2	Go to Nook Stop in Resident Services
3	Select "Nook Shopping"
4	Select Special Goods and press R
5	Buy the Thank-you Mom mug for 600 bells

The special item available for this Mother's Day can be purchased at the Nook Stop for a mere 600 Bells! Once you buy this item you can set it down anywhere you like, just like normal furniture. This event is time limited, so make sure to get this done before the end of the month!
