Can you stunt their growth?

The time when they come is randomised

You can plant them right next to each other but once they grow you can't walk through them!

I really want to know, Do shrubs grow on sand? cause I have a beach home and I thought shrubs would be a nice touch.

If you plant bushes right next to each other, will they grow? Or do you need a space like trees do?

Can you try to find out which shrubs are in season to flower? Leif told me about the azalea, so I don't have to wait for it to flower, but it would be nice to have a list so that I don't put two shrubs with different flowering seasons next to each other,
