Master Sword - How To Get

Two Recommended Ways To Get The Master Sword

Geoglyphs Route
Time Required: 1-2 Hours
Difficulty: Easy
Pull out the sword from the Light Dragon that appears right after you check the 11 Geoglyphs. If you can't get on the Light Dragon right after it appears, it will be difficult to get
Phantom Ganon Route
Time Required: About 30 Minutes
Difficulty: Slightly Difficult
Defeat Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon, then pull the sword out of the Light Dragon that appears. The location of the Light Dragon is always displayed on the map, making it easy to find.

There are two ways to obtain the Master Sword. One way is to check 11 Geoglyphs to complete the quest, and the other is to defeat Phantom Ganon. In both cases, the Light Dragon will appear once you complete them, wherein the Master Sword is stuck on its forehead.

You Can Ride The Light Dragon On Routes Other Than The Above

You can ride the Light Dragon on the routes other than the ones above. The Light Dragon is constantly moving over Hyrule at a pace of once every two hours, so if the timing is right, you can fly to the Light Dragon from the top of the Nachoyah Shrine or other locations.

Two Stamina Wheel (5x Upgrade) Is Needed To Get The Master Sword

To pull out the Master Sword, two Stamina Wheels or 5x Upgrade of the Stamina Wheel is required. You cannot pull it out even if you increase the number of Stamina Wheels by using food or medicine. Clear about 20 shrines to get to the required amount of Stamina Wheel.

How To Get The Master Sword - Geoglyphs Route

Procedure For The Geoglyps Route
  1. Complete the challenge: Impa and the Geoglyphs
  2. Check the Tear of the Dragon at 11 Geoglyphs
  3. Use the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower to get down to the head of the Light Dragon
  4. Pull out the Master Sword to obtain it
  5. What to do if you can't get on the head of the Light Dragon

Clear Impa And The Geoglyphs

If you wish to proceed with the Geoglypgs route, you need to clear Impa and the Geoglyphs first. Talk to Impa in the northwest of Central Hyrule to start this. After clearing it, a quest to invesitage the Tears of the Dragon in Geoglyphs will start.

Examine Tears Of The Dragon At 11 Geoglyphs

* The circled numbers indicate the Memory No. (3→4→5→6→7→8→9→10→12→13→15)

Examine the Tear of the Dragon at 11 Geoglyphs on the Surface and collect the memories. Tears of the Dragon are hidden until you get close to them, so use the image above to find them.

Use Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower To Get To The Light Dragon's Head

Immediately after collecting 11 memories from the Geoglyps, the Light Dragon will appear in Akkala and start moving. Since the Light Dragon is flying in the sky, use the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower to descend to the Light Dragon's head.

Aim For Timing At Sokkala Sky Archipelago In The Sky

The Light Dragon passes under the Sokkala Sky Archipelago, so landing once at the Sokkala Sky Archipelago makes it easier to know when to descend to the Light Dragon's head.

Once On The Head, Pull Out The Master Sword To Get It

Once you get on the head of the Light Dragon, you can pull out the Master Sword by pressing the A Button. During the cutscene, you will be instructed to press and hold the A button, so follow the prompts to successfully pull out the sword!

What To Do If You Can't Get On The Head Of The Light Dragon

The Light Dragon on the Geoglyphs route keeps moving in high altitude, so if you can't get on it using the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower, it will be difficult to get off without losing altitude. It is quicker to take the Phantom Ganon route, since it will lower the altitude and show its location on the map.

How To Get Master Sword - Phantom Ganon Route

Procedure For Phantom Ganon Route
  1. Head to Korok Forest via Minshi Woods Chasm
  2. Once on the surface, go to the Deku Tree Chasm
  3. After falling into the Chasm, defeat Gloom Hands
  4. Defeat Phantom Ganon in a series of battles
  5. Talk to the Great Deku Tree
  6. Go down to the head of the Light Dragon that appears around Great Sky Island
  7. Pull out the Master Sword to get it

Go To Korok Forest Via Minshi Woods Chasm

Head to Korok Forest via Mishi Woods Chasm near Ekochiu Shrine. It is quicker to fly from Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower by looking at the map.

Go To Deku Tree Chasm

After reaching Korok Forest, the Great Deku Tree event scene occurs. After that, you can enter the Chasm at the root of the Great Deku Tree, so move from the Chasm to the basement.

When You Fall Into Chasm, First Defeat Gloom Hands

Gloom Hands can easily be defeated from a safe distance by using Bomb Flowers with your arrows as shown in the video above. If you prepare them in advance, the battle against Phantom Ganon will go smoothly.

Next Defeat Phantom Ganon

How To Beat Phantom Ganon
  1. Keep you distance and wait for Phantom Ganon's rush attack
  2. If the hand is to the side, backstep to avoid and Flurry Rush
    If the hand is held up, sidestep to avoid and Flurry Rush

Talk To Great Deku Tree

After defeating Phantom Ganon, talk to the Great Deku Tree and a conversation will occur in which you will be told the location of the Master Sword.

Ride The Light Dragon That Appears Around Great Sky Island

After that, Light Dragons will appear around Josiu Shrine to Great Sky Island. After being informed of its location by the Great Deku Tree, it will always be displayed on the map, so it is recommended that you watch for the timing when you approach a position close to your travel.

Once On The Head, Pull Out The Master Sword To Get It

Once you get on the head of the Light Dragon, you can pull out the Master Sword by pressing the A button. During the event, you will be instructed to press and hold the A button, so follow the instructions to obtain the Master Sword.

Proceed With The Phantom Ganon Route

When the Light Dragon appears on the Geoglyphs route, it is moving at an altitude of 1500 - 2200, so if you cannot jump on it immediately after it appears, it is recommended that you take the Phantom Ganon route. By proceeding along this route, the Light Dragon's altitude will be lowered and its location will always be displayed on the map, making it easier to jump down from the nearby Skyview Tower.

How To Awaken The Master Sword

Awaken When Approaching Ganon & Gloom Enemies

Master Sword has a blade that glows blue-white when awakened, and its power increase from normal attack power (30) to awakened attack power (about 45), while awakened and to about 60 when fighting Ganon types.

Master Sword Can Be Awakened Even Against Zakos If The Enemy Is Wearing Gloom

The Master Sword can be awakened simply by approaching an enemy with Gloom, regardless of whether it is a boss. Other than Ganon-type bosses, there are various enemies wearing Gloom mainly in the Depths, so let's try to utilize the awakened Master Sword.

Master Sword's Damage Is Confirmed To Be 30

Master Sword is found to have an attack power of 30 as in the previous work. It can be revived even if it is broken, and in this work, the attack power can be increased with Fuse, making play easier with its consistent strength.

Even If Broken, It Will Be Restored In 10 Minutes

The Master Sword like its predecessor will be restored in 10 minutes after it is broken, and can be used as many times as needed. The remaining time until it recovers can be checked from the inventory.

Awakens When Fighting Ganon-Type & Gloom Enemies

Master Sword activates an awakening effect when fighting Ganon-type or Gloom-clad enemies, where the sword glows blue and the attack power .

Beam Can Be Fired When Hearts Are Full

By pressing the R button when Hearts is full, you can fire a beam. This is a long-range attack, so it can be used to preemptively stun a target or catch an Apple in the top of a tree.

Be Aware That Shooting The Beam Will Reduce Durability

The Master Sword's beam consumed durability and will put you to sleep if you use it too many times. Be careful not to overuse it.

Ancient Hero's Aspect Enhances Beam Power

When the Ancient Hero's Aspect is equipped, the set bonus effect increases the power of the beam. Normally, the power of the attack is 10, but when equipped, the power is enhanced by 1.5x.
