You Can Go Without A Map, But...

It is possible to get to the Thunderhead Isles without using the map. However, even if you arrive at Thunderhead Isles, the visibility will be quite poor due to the constant thunderstorm, and there will be a high risk of stepping off and falling down. It is recommended to visit the Thunderhead Isles after the main quest is completed and the map is visible.

Carry Non-Metal Equipment

Take A Non-Metal Equipment

Thunderhead Isles is always under a thunderstorm, so if you have metal equipment, you will be severely damaged by lightning. Since you will be fighting enemies, you should be able to fight with non-metal equipment.
