What To Do With Horses

Catch A Wild Horse

If you want to get a horse, you need to start by catching one in the wild. Horses are cautious, so make sure to approach them from behind when trying to catch them to avoid startling them. If you successfully catch a horse, you can register it at a stable.

Easier To Catch It With White Chuchu Jelly

White Chuchu Jelly is quite useful to have when catching horses. You can immobilize horses temporarily when you fuse them with arrows and shoot them with it. This way you don't need to crouch and sneak, making it easier to capture them efficiently.

It Is Also Possible To Carry Over Data From The Previous Game

Players who have played the previous game, 'Breath of the Wild,' can transfer their horses. However, please take note that if there is no save data from the previous game on the same Nintendo Switch during the initial startup, the transfer will not be possible.

Reroll Horse's Stats

When you capture a horse, its initial status is determined. To ensure you have a reliable way of transportation from the start, focus on finding horses with high initial stats. Note that most horses' stats can be upgraded, so rerolling stats is optional.

When a horse gets attacked or dies in an accident, it can be revived when you bring it to Malanya similarly to upgrading. To restore, you will need Endura Carrots, so collect them accordingly for the number of horses you want to revive.

By accumulating Pony Points, you will be able to change the bridle and mane of your horse. Changing the appearance to your liking is possible, but it won't affect the horse's performance.

You Can Obtain Epona Using The Amiibo

By scanning specific amiibo, you can summon the iconic horse "Epona" from the Zelda series. You can register it in the stable and use it throughout your journey. With impressively high stats, it can be an excellent partner in early game.

When riding a horse, Link can move faster than running and the Stamina Wheel doesn't reduce. When venturing into unexplored areas, it'd be easier to reach a Shrine or Skyview Tower if you bring a horse with you.

You Can Aim For Shoot In Slow Motion While Jumping Off The Horse

When dismounting from the horse, Link can jump up to a certain height. If you draw your bow while in mid-air, you can aim your target in slow motion. Remember this when facing formidable enemies like Hinox, as it can be pretty useful.

By attaching a Towing Harness to a horse, you can use it to pull things like a carriage. This can be useful for certain quests, so it's recommended to unlock it in early game.
