Shield Surf - When To Use & Benefits
Swift Downhill Descend
Shield Surf is one means of mobility when exploring which can be used when going downhill. Shield Surf cannot be executed if there is no downhill slope, even if you try to perform it.
Shield Durability Can Decrease

▲ Durability does not decrease while surfing
Performing Shield Surf on snowy mountains & deserts does not reduce the shield's durability but it does if you do it in other areas. It would be great if you have a disposable shield that you can use for Shield Surf so you are not going to worry when it gets destroyed.
Cover More Distance When Jumping
If you do the Shield Surf mid-air while pressing the L stick, you are going to roll forward while moving in the direction you are moving. It looks like a double jump and the distance it can cover is longer than usual. This technique is useful for reaching certain areas that would be impossible to reach by typical means such as making your way across different platforms.
