Tips For Battle

Aim For The Weak Point With Arrows To Stun The Enemy

If you hit the enemy's weak point with an arrow, you can double the damage and stun the enemy. While the enemy is stunned, you can hit it with a series of arrows, and then prepare to aim again when it is back up.

It Is Recommended To Aim In The Air

Aim In The Air

By using a Bow in the air, the enemy will be in slow motion as long as the Stamina Wheel lasts, allowing you to aim for a headshot and hit your target multiple times.

Point!Taking advantage of the terrain is crucial when aiming with a bow from the air. If cliffs surround you, attacking your target from above is best. Alternatively, if materials are available, use Ultrahand to build a scaffold to jump.

Creating An Updraft Is Also Recommended

In this game, you can create Updrafts through specific methods such as burning Spicy Pepper or adding a Hylian Pine Cone to a bonfire. Being prepared can help you effectively use Updrafts during battle.

Elemental Attacks Provide An Edge In Battles

Elemental Attacks
ElementEffect
Lightning・Strikes the enemy
・Drops its equipped weapon
Ice・Frozen the enemy
・Triple damage when attacking frozen enemies
・Beat Fire-elemental enemies in one shot
Fire・Set the enemy on fire

Elemental attacks provide additional effects in battles. If the enemy recovers from electric shock or frozen state, you can try inflicting the effect again, giving you an advantage in the fight. But note that, enemies that are resistant to elemental attacks won't be affected by the additional effects.

Swap Weapons Based On The Situation

When To Swap・Inflict the Elemental Effect
・During Flurry Rush
・Hold up a Shield

It is easy to forget to switch weapons during a battle. Quickly switching to a high-attack weapon during Flurry Rush or Status Ailments will help you deal damage more efficiently. Switching to a Sword during battle and then switching to a Longsword (high-attack weapon) after performing Perfect Guard is also effective.

Deflect Enemies' Thrown Objects By Recall

With Recall, you can reverse and redirect thrown objects, such as a Rock, back to the enemy. And the timing is not as critical as Perfect Guard.

Fuse Enemy's Weapon

Fuse enemy's weapon

You can take an enemy's weapon by stunning it and Fusing its weapon as a material. This can also reduce an enemy's attack range. But the Fused weapon cannot be used as a material again, and it's best to pick it up.

Defense & Lock-On

Hold Shield with ZL button

To fight safely and always face the enemy, use Defense & Lock-on with the ZL button. Shield can only be used with a one-handed weapon or without any weapon, but it's a great way to avoid unexpected attacks. Note that when there are multiple enemies, the camera should focus on one of them.

Perfect Guard

When you hold a Shield with ZL, you can trigger Perfect Guard by deflecting the enemy's attack with A at the right time. When you perform Perfect Guard with a physical attack, the enemy will be stunned, giving you an opportunity to attack.

May Be Damaged If You Fail

If you activate Perfect Guard too early, your shield defense will be discharged and you may be attacked directly. Additionally, if you use your shield to defend normally, it will lose durability and eventually break. Since your shield's durability will not be consumed while Perfect Guard, you can practice it by repeatedly fighting the same enemy.

Dodge

Jumping and moving the Left Stick during Lock-On(Focus) allows for Side Hop and Backflip. If you can dodge at the right time, you can trigger the Perfect Dodge and connect to the Flurry Rush in slow motion.

BackflipZL + Move down with Left Stick + X

Flurry Rush

When you successfully dodge, the Flurry Rush will activate. This causes the enemy to slow down, allowing you to perform multiple attacks by repeatedly pressing the Y button. Additionally, you can switch to a high-attack weapon and attack during this period.

Sneakstrike

Sneakstrike can be performed by approaching a sleeping enemy or by crouching behind it without being noticed. Sneakstrike can inflict heavy damage with a single blow, so try it aggressively.

Jump Attack

Attacking in mid-air results in a Jump Attack that generates a shockwave around the target. The attack's reach is limited with a basic jump, but when performed from above, it can stun multiple enemies in a wide range. But be careful not to jump too high, or you will be damaged from falling.
