What Is Gloom?
Gloom Reduces Maximum Hearts
Stepping on Gloom or being hit by Gloom attacks from certain enemies in caves or underground areas will reduce the maximum number of Hearts. Even when using recovery items while in a reduced state, they will only restore up to the decreased maximum value, so be careful.

Hearts Will Be Restored When You Return To The Surface
When you step on gloom or receive attacks that reduce the maximum value of Hearts, returning to the surface will restore to the original state. If you find yourself in a situation where you're about to be defeated, try traveling or finding a way to return to the surface.
The Hearts That Have Decreased Will Not Recover
Even when you have returned to the surface, the Hearts that were reduced in maximum value will not recover. It is necessary to use items such as foods and elixirs to restore them.
Recover Hearts From Foods With Sundelion
The food made with Sundelion can restore the Hearts' maximum value. It's recommended to carry some Sundelion foods with you if you need to stay underground for a long time.
Get Gloom Resistance With Dark Clump Foods
The foods made with Dark Clump provide Gloom Resistance ability. When in the Gloom-Resistant state, the damage from stepping on Gloom or being attacked by Gloom is deducted from the Gloom Resistance Hearts instead of your actual Hearts. If the Gloom Resistance Hearts run out, they will start to recover after a certain period of time within the game.
How To Get Dark Clump
Dark Clump can be obtained by exchanging 10 Poe. You can trade them at the demon statue on the first floor of the Lookout Landing.
How To Get Poe
Poe is an item that can be collected underground. They have a bright shine, so you can easily spot them in dark underground areas. You can obtain them by approaching and pressing the A button, similar to picking up regular drops.
