Lighting Protection - How To Avoid Lighting Damage
Unequip Metal Equipment
Lightning will strike Link if he is wearing metal equipment. When lightning is about to strike, Link will gradually become electrified, so remove metal equipment to avoid this. You can also check your inventory since metal equipment will have an electric effect if lightning is present.
Get Under A Roof Or Large Tree
If you get under a roof or a large tree, lightning will not be able to strike you. For example, it can be a cliff ledge so long as there is an obstruction between Link and the sky. However, if it is a small tree, be aware that it may be hit directly and fall down, or it may fall down on you.

Damages & Electrocutes On The Area It Strikes
The area where the lightning strikes will be damaged and electrocuted regardless of whoever or whatever is in it. Note that Link may get killed by lightning strikes if he has low Hearts.
Throwing A Metal Weapon Causes Lighting To Strike It
If you equip a metal weapon and throw it with the R button, lightning will strike the weapon you throw. It can be used as a means of avoiding lightning, but if you throw it at the location of enemies, you can bait the lightning to hit them!
