Strengths & How to Use
Attackers who don't need Focus Sash
In the Duelist Build, there are many other attackers who need to hold Focus Sash, but Mimikyu is guaranteed to hit once with Ability "Disguise", which makes it a very useful attacker who can attack stably without Focus Sash.
Make full use of Swords Dance
Mimikyu's Ability "Disguise" allows it to safely stack Swords Dance on the first turn, and if it can defeat an enemy after stacking Swords Dance, even if the next opponent is a Pokemon faster than Mimikyu, Mimikyu can still deal massive damage with its Fast Move "Shadow Sneak".
Things to Keep in Mind
Beware of Physical Tanks and "Unaware"
Mimikyu's Attack stat and power of moves are not high, so it is easy to be stopped by Physical Tanks with high Defense and Ability "Unaware". Since you cannot switch many times in Duelist Builds, it is important to find a way to defeat the opponent's Tank Pokemon with a minimum number of pivots when building.
Beware of Normal/Dark Tera type Pokemon
The Ghost Tera type Mimikyu, is one of the Pokemon to watch out for in Series 1, so your opponent may have preparations against it, such as a Tank Pokemon, or a Normal/Dark Tera type Pokemon that is faster than Mimikyu. They may counterattack Mimikyu, so be careful.
Pokemon Team Compositions
Pokemon | Reason |
---|---|
Breloom | A powerful Sash Type that is suitable for Duelist Builds, and easy to take advantage of Dondozo and Normal Tera Type Pokemon which are often used against Mimikyu. |
Dragonite | A Pokemon that is commonly used in Duelist Builds, and the combination of its powerful Fast Move "Extreme Speed" and Mimikyu gives it an advantage against Attackers with high speed. |
Use "Disguise" wisely
It is important to use Attacker Mimikyu's Ability "Disguise" in order to inflict a large amount of damage on the opponent. Be careful not to use Disguise to attack Pokemon that cannot be defeated, or to use it as a tank to the opponent's attacks.
Other Suggestions
Nature & EV Distribution
Nature | EV/Reason |
---|---|
Jolly (SPD⬆,SP. ATK⬇) | HP 4 / Atk 252 / Spe 252 The rate of winning another Mimikyu will be higher than with Adamant. It is also effective when you want to beat the fastest Gholdengo. |
Suggested Items Other Than [Life Orb]
Type | Reason |
---|---|
Spell Tag | The power of Ghost-type moves are increased by 1.2 times. This is an option when you want other Pokemon to use the "Life Orb". |
Suggested Tera Types
Type | Reason |
---|---|
Same-type attack bonus of Tera type increases the damage of "Play Rough" and it eliminates the weakness of Ghost-type, which allows you to withstand the opponent's Mimikyu's "Shadow Sneak" and others. |
Suggested Moves
Move | Reason |
---|---|
Taunt | When facing highly durable Pokemon, by using "Taunt" to Physical Tank Pokemon, Mimikyu is able to disrupt the Physical Tank's recovery moves. |
Phantom Force | It is the most powerful of Mimikyu's Ghost-type moves, and with the Same-type attack bonus of Tera type, it can inflict high damage, but it is a bit difficult to handle as it may be blocked by "Substitute" and Normal Tera type. |
