Strengths & How to Use

The main Pokemon in a Pivot Battle

Fast Move with Same-type attack bonus with increased power due to Technician's effect, and it can switch with another Pokemon by using its move U-turn so it is easy to pivot. There are 9 different styles that can decrease damage by 0.5 times so it is a great Pokemon to use in Pivot Battles.

Great High Power Fast Move

Bullet Punch which has been powered up by Steel Tera Type has the same power as the move Dragon Darts used by Dragapult which has an enhanced Attack and holds a Life Orb. Now the strong point of Scizor is that it can use this as a Fast Move.

Things to Keep in Mind

Weak against Fire types

If your opponent is a Fire type, Bullet Punch and U-turn will only be 0.5 times damage, and the opponent's Fire type moves will be 4 times effective so it really does not work well with Fire type Pokemon opponents. You may terastallize and it might be able to tolerate Fire moves, but it is recommended to just change your Pokemons.

The opponent may withstand it with Focus Sash

Also it can give great damage with its high power Fast Move, but a Pokemon holding the Focus Sash may be able to withstand the attack. In Pivot Battles, if you can avoid the opponent's means of withstanding Scizor’s attacks (ie [Focus Sash] or Ability [Sturdy] etc) you maybe be able to decrease the risk of your Scizor getting hit by counterattacks.

Pokemon Team Compositions

PokemonReason
Hydreigon IconHydreigonA Special Attacker that can be strong against Physical Tanks. Halving Fire type damage and nullifying Ground type moves make it a good match Pokemon. After terastalizing Scizor into Steel type, beware of Fighting moves which Dark and Steel types are weak against.
Heat Rotom IconHeat RotomA Pokemon that can easily defeat Physical Tanks while halving Fire moves. In [Pivot Build], it can also be used in many ways with [Trick] and [Volt Switch].

Works well with Pivot Builds

In this build, Scizor needs to be switched out many times for resetting the effect of Choice Band, so it is best for a Pivot Build that almost has no recovery moves and resists the damage by type effectiveness. You can receive the opponent's attack by under 0.5 times, and attack with an offensive pivot, or by using [U-turn] or [Volt Switch], then switch back to the Pokemon that halves the damage from the opponent.

Other Suggestions

Suggested Tera Types

TypeReason
DragonThis type can halve Fire moves, and since Dragon's weaknesses are Ice, Fairy, and Dragon, it has Bullet Punch, which is strong against both of them, making it a good match.

Suggested Moves

MoveReason
Sleep TalkThis is a move to allow you use moves while Asleep. Note that if you fall Asleep while having a restriction to use a specific move, [Sleep Talk] will be disabled untill the restriction is lifted.
