Strengths & How to Use
Takes full advantage of its high Durability
Clodsire has one of the highest Special Defense in the current environment. This style is ideal for players who want to make the most of the durability and use [Recover] + [Toxic] to reduce the opponent's HP without attacking.
Eliminate the weakness, Water type, with Water Absorb
The Ability [Water Absorb] can nullify Water moves, which is its weakness. Especially against Wash Rotom, which is often used in Pivot Builds, it can block both Water and Electric moves, making it easy to create a setup for pivots that are advantageous to you.
Set Stealth Rock naturally
When Clodsire is sent out against an opposing Special Attacker, there is a high chance of acting more than once. If you set Stealth Roch in such a situation, it will be easier to take advantage of Pivot Battles.
Things to Keep in Mind
No solution for the resistance to both Toxic and Ground Moves
This style of Clodsire has no solution for opponents that are immune to both [Toxic] and [Earthquake], such as Steel Tera type Hydreigon or Flying Tera type Gholdengo. Make sure to prepare pivots to deal with these Pokemon when you building a team.
Be careful not to be broken through by Stat boost Moves
This style of Clodsire has no resistance to Stat boost moves, so it is at risk of being broken through by the opponent's Special Stat boosting Attackers. Against those Pokemon, it is important to reduce their HP with Toxic and Earthquake to the point where your Attackers in waiting can defeat them with one shot before they take an action.
point!! | Since the selection screen does not reveal whether the Ability is [Unaware] or [Water Absorb], it'd be good if you could act in a way that the opponent does not find out your Ability as much as possible. |

Pokemon Team Compositions
Pokemon | Reason |
---|---|
Dragonite | The Attacker that is able to defeat all the opponents after setting Stealth Rock. It is powerful to use [Extreme Speed] to stop the opponent whose HP has been reduced, from taking an action. |
Corviknight | This Pokemon is strong against Physical Attackers which Clodsire cannot deal with, and able to use [Roost], making it suitable for prolonged Pivot Battles. |
Recovery Move is required for prolonged Pivot Battles
It takes quite a long time to reduce the opponent's HP with [Toxic]. In the meantime, the opponent will repeatedly exchange Pokemon, so you will want at least one Pokemon that can participate in the prolonged Pivot Battle with [Recovey Move].
Other Suggestions
Suggested Moves
Move | Reason |
---|---|
Haze | It can reset each other's stat change, making it harder to be broken through by Stat boost moves. |
Amnesia | It can increase Clodsire's Sp. Defense by 2 levels, which is not useful during switching Pivots, but helps to make Clodsire impregnable in the final phase. |
