When you have the Egg Power effective, it makes it easier for you to find Eggs. Since it makes it a lot easier and faster to find Eggs, it is recommended to use it when you trying to Breed.
Decreases The Amount Of Steps To Hatch Eggs
The Egg Power does not just helps you find Eggs faster, but also decreases the amount of steps to hatch Eggs as well.
With Certain Abilities, Decreases Amount Of Steps
If you have the Pokemon that has the Abilities "Flame Body", "Steam Engine", and "Magma Armor" in your team, it will decrease the amount of steps to hatch Eggs by half. It is definitely recommended to have 1 of these Pokemon in your team when Breeding.

You can get a Lv 2 Egg Power from a Sandwich recipe. But just to get an Egg Power and using the Herba Mystica is too wasteful so you want to avoid that. These are the 2 recipes that are recommended. (Both are 630 Pokedollars)

Purchase The "Compte du Fils" At A Shop
When you are planning to purchase from a shop, it is recommended to purchase the "Compte du Fils" from Gastronomie en Famille that has Egg Power of Lv 2, (2800 Pokedollars). The Kofu Lounge's "Hot and Sour Soup" (3200 Pokedollars) also has Lv 2, but it is 400 Pokedollars more expensive than the "Compte du Fils".
