I just managed to catch one. I struggle to find any rarer fish on my own island, so I tend to use NMT and find the right island to catch one in. I was just on the island with allll the waterfalls, 3 baits in I got one :)

I caught a stringfish today im was so happy when i caught it donated it to the museum went back caught another one put that one in my home ive been trying to get one for 2 months

I genuinely hate this thing, it (nor *any* huge shadowed fish) spawned in 2 days on my ****ed island. I even made the cliff top rivers bigger but still nothing,...

I used more than a HUNDRED fish bait and I still haven’t get one.

I got it next to the waterfall on the first platform. Is had a really big shadow (bigger than the salmon and such). Took me a while to catch it though. Good luck

I did find it eventually, it was in the elevated area river, shadow size is big.

I caught one in the clifftop pond so look there too
