time travel doesnt work as efficiently anymore. anybody got any tips on how to get more bells?

If you missed your ABD's bonus miles strike, try this. Travel to 7 days before today, check the ABD. Move to the next day, check ABD again. When you reach your current time, you will already at the 7+ days bonus (300 miles).
