What Are VR Missions?
Fight Summons To Get Summons
VR Missions are part of Chadley's Secret Research and Battle Intel Reports. Once you beat a summon during these fights, you get their summon materia, allowing you summon them in battles. Talk to Chadley to do VR Missions.

Talking to Chadley in The Chapter 8 unlocks the VR Missions. Your first VR mission against Shiva will automatically be unlocked after speaking to Chadley.
Collect Battle Intel Reports For More VR Missions
Finding and collecting Battle Intel Reports during your adventures unlocks more VR Missions that you can take on. For example, completing a total of 12 Battle Intel Reports & clearing Nos. 1~9 unlocks the Fat Chocobo VR Mission.

As you progress the story, you will meet Chadley again in different locations and chapters, allowing you to access some of his materias and also his VR Missions.
