- Level Up (Max Level = 50)
- Collect Manuscripts on Normal Mode or lower (up to 246)
- Collect Manuscripts on Hard Mode (after 246)
Get Over 250 SP
Simply put, in order to get level 6 you'll have to have 250 SP on that particular character. By clearing the game on Normal mode & leveling to 50, you can only obtain 246 in total, so this means you have to defeat bosses or do side quests on hard mode.
246 SP = Level 50 and 3 Manuscripts
246 SP in Normal Mode means that you've reached Level 50 and have gotten all 3 Manuscripts available on Normal Difficulty. These Manuscripts can be obtained from the Moogle Shop, Corneo Colosseum, & the Shinra Combat Simulator.

Even without playing on Hard Mode, you will be able to see the Hard-Mode exclusive battles in the Shinra Combat Simulator in Chapter 16 & Chapter 17. Clearing these solo missions will give you another Tome for each character. This alone should be enough to push you to weapon level 6 if you have all other Normal mode manuscripts!
