How to Use Basic Attacks and Skills
Mastering Basic Attacks and Skills

In NTE, combat revolves around Basic Attacks, the cooldown-based "Redirect Skill," and the energy-consuming "Ultimate." Mastering each character's skills is the key to victory.

Use Support Skill After Switching

When you switch your controlled character during battle, the new character will automatically activate a Support Skill. This is useful for filling in gaps during skill cooldowns and for timing a Parry Attack against an enemy's attack.
Cycle Rate and Esper Cycle
Character UI Changes at Max Cycle

When you damage an enemy and their Cycle Rate reaches maximum, a special effect will appear on the icons of characters with adjacent attributes in your team. Switching to a character in this state will upgrade their normal Switch Attack into a powerful Entry Attack.
Entry Attack Activates Esper Cycle
Hitting an enemy with an Entry Attack under the right conditions activates an additional effect called "Esper Cycle." The effect you get depends on the combination of your characters' attributes.
Dodge and Critical Riposte
Time Dodge with the Enemy's Attack
Activate Critical Dodge by pressing the Dodge button just before an enemy's attack hits. This makes you temporarily invincible. Dodging consumes stamina, so manage it carefully to avoid running out when you need it most.
Watch Out for the Red Cross Warning

When an enemy shows a red cross warning, an attack will soon follow, so be prepared to perform a Critical Dodge.
Critical Riposte Reduces Break Gauge
Performing a Basic Attack immediately after a successful Critical Dodge unleashes a powerful Critical Riposte. This counterattack significantly reduces an enemy's Break Gauge, so it's crucial to use it whenever possible.
Parry Attack and Break
Parry Incoming Enemy Attacks
You can perform a Parry Attack by landing specific attacks with precise timing during an enemy's special move (indicated by a red circular warning). A successful Parry staggers the enemy and automatically triggers a Critical Dodge, creating a perfect opening to use your skills.
How to Use Parry Attack
A Parry Attack is performed by landing a Basic Attack, Redirect Skill, or Support Skill at the exact moment the warning circles overlap. Since parrying with a Basic Attack requires very precise timing, it's more reliable to use a Redirect or Support Skill if one is available.
Trigger Break for High Damage
When an enemy's Break Gauge (the bar below their HP) is depleted to 0, they enter a "Break state" and become temporarily stunned. During this time, all team members will deal increased damage, making it the perfect opportunity to unleash powerful moves like your Ultimate.
