Headless Rider - Attack Patterns & Best Characters
Rides a Motorbike while Swinging its Scythe

In addition to swinging its scythe, the Headless Rider launches unpredictable attacks using drifts and wheelies on its motorcycle. Pay close attention to the enemy's movements to dodge.
Vulnerable to Psyche Characters

The Headless Rider's weakness is Psyche. Attacking with this attribute will allow you to efficiently reduce the enemy's Break gauge, giving you an advantage in battle.
Recommended Characters

For the highly mobile Headless Rider, we highly recommend adding Jiuyuan to your team, as she can activate Esper Cycle: Blossom. Since there are currently no Psyche damage dealers, her auto-targeting Vita Bud, which can consistently deal damage, is extremely reliable.
Charge Formation
| Attacker | Anima | Lakshana | Survival |
|---|---|---|---|
Jiuyuan | Esper Zero | Hathor | Fadia |
This formation takes advantage of Jiuyuan's enhanced Blossom. While activating Remora through synergy with Hathor, you'll deal damage using Esper Zero's Instant Link of the Circle.
Headless Rider Strategy - Tips on How to Beat It
Dodge the Tire Crush

The tire crush, which is always used as the second hit of a combo, is your signal to counter. If a warning appears, you can perform a Parry Attack on the next hit. If not, you can't counter. Simply being aware of this will make the fight much more stable.
▼Combination AttackGenerate Vita Buds

Against a boss with many large, mobile attacks, a powerful strategy is to always keep a homing Vita Bud on the field. Even while you're focused on dodging, the Vita Bud will efficiently deal damage for you.
Check Its Position After the Donut Motion
Many of the Headless Rider's attacks involve movement, so even if you successfully perform a Critical Dodge, the boss's position will often have changed. When using a Critical Riposte, be careful, as you might miss if you don't aim for the boss's new position.
Headless Rider's Moveset Guide
Scythe Sweep
This is an attack where it charges on its bike and sweeps a wide area with its scythe as it passes by. The battle starts with this attack. Once you see the warning, dodge backwards and then counter; you'll be in the perfect position.
Triple Sweep
Quickly sweeps the area around itself with its scythe three times in a row. It transitions to the next attack quickly, so if you're repeatedly using Critical Dodge and Critical Riposte, you need to input the commands as fast as possible without any delay.
Flaming Drift -> Charge
It leaves a trail of fire on the ground as it moves away, then makes a U-turn to perform a Charging Slash. The final slash can be countered with a Parry Attack, but be careful when approaching, as the fire trail it leaves behind will explode after a few seconds.
Aerial Charge
A major attack where it moves away with a drift, sends its bike charging, and then attacks from the air. The dodge timing changes depending on the distance. The attack has excellent tracking and a wide area of effect on impact, so watch the boss's movements carefully until the very end to dodge.
Combination Attack
A series of attacks combining multiple motions. It has many irregular patterns, like stopping after the first hit or changing the combination, so the biggest tip for this fight is to learn the "Pattern from the second hit onwards" described below.
The Second-Hit (Tire Crush) is the Signal to Counter
The second hit is always the tire crush. If a red warning appears, you can Parry Attack the third hit. If it doesn't, the counter window is gone, so focus on dodging. It can sometimes use this as the first hit, so always be aware of this branching pattern.
(HP Below 50%) Clone Charge
A major attack used below 50% HP. It creates explosion points while clones perform consecutive charges. The blue Omen on the ground will narrow, and the moment it glows is your cue to dodge. Avoid the explosion points and aim for a Critical Dodge as it glows.
