The Map Has Gimmicks
Some passages stay hidden until your second run, and red barriers block others. To clear a barrier, light three Bonfire Statues nearby to remove the wall and reach the chest behind it.
Area Past the Elevator Is Accessible on Challenge Difficulty
The area you'd normally reach by fixing the elevator with a Dusty Gear can also be entered through a path that opens on your second run. Just break the Crystal a little way back from the Bonfire before the boss battle to get in.
How to Reach Hidden Passages in 999 NightsDusty Gear Can Be Purchased from the Mysterious Fuzzy Merchant
You can buy the Dusty Gear for the elevator from the Mysterious Fuzzy Merchant on Challenge difficulty or higher, for 4,000 Warren Gold Coins. The merchant is set up beside Bonfire 7.
Accessing the Locked Gear Elevator Area (Challenge Difficulty)
The hidden area normally accessed by fixing the Elevator with a Gear can also be reached via a new path that opens up during your second run (Run 2). You can easily enter this area by destroying the Crystal located just before the Campfire leading to the Boss Battle.
