Basic Team Building Tips
NTE Parties Can Have Up to 4 Members

In NTE, your party is made up of up to 4 characters. Since you can freely switch between all 4 members during battle, the basic approach is to prioritize triggering the "Esper Cycle" explained below, then choose members that fit the necessary roles.
| Role | Members |
|---|---|
| Main DPS | 1 |
| Sub DPS | 1 |
| Buffer | 1 |
| Healer | 1 |
Choose DPS Based on Enemy Weakness

Some enemies, such as bosses, have specific attribute weaknesses. It is recommended to build your party around a main DPS with the right attribute advantage for the content you are challenging, then fill the remaining slots with allies that work well with that DPS.
| Tip! | It is recommended to choose sub DPS and buffers that have strong synergy with your main DPS. |

Build Around the Esper Cycle
Check Adjacent Attributes

A key part of party building is the "Esper Cycle," which activates powerful effects when switching characters. Esper Cycle only works between "adjacent attributes" in the circle, so instead of using unrelated attributes, you should group members with adjacent ones.
Esper Types & Esper Cycle ExplainedAvoid Non-Adjacent Attributes

There are cases where the party formation screen glows white, but Esper Cycle still does not activate. For example, if you switch from a Cosmos attribute character to an Incantation attribute character during battle, Esper Cycle will not trigger. The switched character's attribute needs to be adjacent to the current character's attribute.
Upper and Lower Attribute Groups

The basic team-building strategy is to focus on either the "upper half" attributes, Cosmos, Anima, and Lakshana; or the "lower half" attributes, Chaos, Psyche, and Incantation. By stacking specific Esper Cycles, you can trigger strong combined effects such as Charge or Discord.
Combined Effects Need 2 Esper Cycles

The powerful combined effects Charge and Discord each require 3 attributes. For example, Charge is an upgraded effect that activates when both the Cosmos–Lakshana and Cosmos–Anima Esper Cycle effects trigger, so it cannot activate unless your party includes Cosmos, Lakshana, and Anima attributes.
Check Cycle Reaction

After deciding your attributes, the next step is choosing characters that match them. At that point, it is recommended to check the Cycle Reaction section and choose characters with the abilities you need.
Unlock Support Skills

To unlock Support Skills, you need to reach character Breakthrough Level 2 and then unlock the second Support Skill, which enables this feature. Breakthrough Level can be increased based on your Appraiser level.
How to Level Up & Ascend CharactersBalance Party with Combat Roles
Decide with Combat Roles

After setting your attributes, balancing your party through combat roles is also important. Building around characters with "Damage" roles while adding members with "Survival" or "Buffer" capabilities will make your team more stable overall.
Combine Sub-Roles

Within the main Combat Roles, there are sub-roles that show more specific roles, such as "Burst DPS" and "DoT." Pay attention to tag synergy as well, such as pairing a Burst DPS with a character that specializes in sustained damage.
