What Are Strange Tales?
Exploration Content on Sunward Island

The NTE Strange Tales are exploration activities newly added to Sunward Island. Similar to Side Quests, completing them rewards you with Exploration Points.
Locations Can Be Checked on the Map

You can track Strange Tales locations directly from the map. Any location that still displays a book icon indicates an incomplete Strange Tales objective.
What to Do if Bugs Occur
While progressing through each Strange Tale, you may encounter problems such as objectives not appearing or interrupted conversations. If any bugs occur, verify that the locations and times are correct, and then try restarting from the Phonebooth or logging in again.

The Golden Tree and the Sword

The glowing golden trees on Sunward Island only appear between 18:00 and 9:00 (in-game time). Use the time adjustment feature and set the time to 18:00.

The first golden tree is located near the resort facility in the center of Sunward Island. Examine the glowing item beside the tree to collect it.

The third golden tree is located in the forest west of the Phone Booth. Examine the glowing item beside the tree to collect it.

After collecting the items from all three golden trees, examine the sword on the small island east of Sunward Island and offer the items. Once all items have been offered, the Strange Tales will be completed and you will receive Footprint Points.
Ghost Ship and the Rusted Sword

- Adjust the Time to 20:00
- Talk to the Ghost
- Talk to the Man on the 2nd Floor of the Resort
- Adjust the Time to the Next Day
- Talk to the Man on the 2nd Floor of the Resort Again
- Pick Up the Rusted Sword
- Submit the Sword to the Bonfire
- Talk to the Man Again


Talk to the Ghost, "Great Jerry." He will not respond the first time, but speaking to him a second time will trigger his request.

Head to the resort in the center of the island to obtain the Rusted Sword needed to progress the Strange Tales. Talk to "Ken" on the second floor of the resort, and he will ask you to return the next day.

Use the time adjustment feature to advance the time to the next day.

After advancing the time, speak with Ken again. He will then agree to give you the Rusted Sword.

After the conversation, the Rusted Sword is placed on a nearby table instead of being given directly to you. Be sure to pick it up before returning to Great Jerry.

Once you have the Rusted Sword, return to Great Jerry and offer it at the bonfire.

After offering the Rusted Sword at the bonfire, Great Jerry will appear near the shipwreck. Talk to him once more to complete the Strange Tale and earn Footprint Points.
Hall on the Hill

- Examine the Sign at the Entrance

- Enter While Playing Music

There is a sign at the entrance of the target building. Examine it to begin.

The ball takes place between 22:00 and 0:00 (in-game time). Use the time adjustment feature and set the time to 22:00.

After changing the time, the entrance will appear slightly different. You will be stopped if you try to enter on foot, but you can enter while riding a vehicle or using the Cubox Portable Player, both of which plays music. Successfully entering the area will complete the Strange Tales and reward you with Footprint Points.

The Cubox Portable Player can be used by setting it onto your hotbar
in the same way that you would use a Vehicle.
Skyfish Banner at the Fishing Spot

- Go Fishing at the Sunward Island Fishing Spot
- Catch a Skyfish Banner
- Stop Fishing and Check the Area

Head to the Sunni Island fishing spot and start fishing.

Catch any Skyfish Banner while fishing. Since Skyfish Banners appear randomly, you may need several attempts before one appears.

After catching a Skyfish Banner, stop fishing and look around the area. A Skyfish Banner will appear nearby, completing the Strange Tales and rewarding you with Footprint Points.
The Ghost in the Tunnel

- Set the Time to 22:00
- Enter the Tunnel

The ghost appears between 22:00 and 0:00. Use the time adjustment feature to set the time to 22:00.

After changing the time, a ghost will appear inside the tunnel. Spotting the ghost will complete the Strange Tales and reward you with Footprint Points.

Talk to Ms. Bulan on the beach.

After talking to Ms. Bulan, adjust the time forward by 1 day, and the Haggard Tourist should appear in the same area. Speak to him and continue with the Strange Tale.
In some cases, the Haggard Tourist does not appear. Relogging worked for us, but if you get stuck, you can skip step 2 and proceed to Step 3. Completing Step 3 should force the Haggard Tourist to appear.

Enter the sea from the beach and swim until you run out of stamina in the area where the bubbles appear. Shortly before your stamina is depleted, bubbles will begin to appear. Continue swimming until your stamina reaches zero, and you will be returned to the beach, allowing the event to progress.

The bubbles appear a short distance offshore from the beach. Avoid swimming too far out, as doing so will prevent the event from progressing.

After being returned to the beach, talk to the nearby haggard tourist. Finishing the conversation will complete the Strange Tale and reward you with Footprint Points. In some cases, Ms. Bulan will appear instead of the Haggard Tourist, you can speak to her to achieve the same ending.
If you happened to enter the foam without speaking to Ms. Bulan, you will end up back on the beach. In this case, you can speak to Ms. Bulan, and then fast forward the time to speak to the Haggard Tourist.
The Well Near the Residential Area

Examine the Well and Pour Water

Approach the well and select "Pour Water" to complete the Strange Tale and earn Footprint Points. Note that pouring water
does not require any kind of item in your inventory, so you don't need to go out of your way to obtain anything. Once the Strange Tale is completed, you can revisit the well to listen to different stories.

Ring the Bell to Complete

Approach the bell and select "Ring the Bell" to complete the Strange Tale and earn Footprint Points.

Examine the bottle washed ashore and read the letter inside. There are two possible bottle locations, but checking either one will progress the Strange Tale.

The bottles can be found along the southern residential shore and the northern ghost ship shore. The southern location is recommended since it is closer to both the teleport point and the Strange Tale objective.

Head to the Strange Tale location on the western shore of Sunward Island and examine the small boat. This will let you obtain a Strange Firestone.

After obtaining the Strange Firestone, examine the nearby campfire to light it.

Once the campfire is lit, use the time adjustment feature and set the weather to rainy at 18:00.

After lighting the campfire and adjusting the time, the target man will appear on the shore. If he does not appear, try checking both bottle locations from Step 1.

Talk to the man to complete the Strange Tale and earn Footprint Points. Even if you enter the wrong password, you can still clear the event. In one of the dialogue options, you can obtain the Spoon, which can be found while exploring the Hethereau Detention Center.
