Beat King - Features & Recommended Characters

Has a Rhythm Game-like Mechanic

Beat King

The main feature of the Beat King battle is a special "rhythm game-like mechanic" that occurs during the fight. While you can still attack while the mechanic is active, the damage dealt when you correctly respond to the Notes is extremely high, so we recommend actively engaging with it.

Psyche Attribute Attacks are Effective

Beat King

The Beat King's weakness is the "Psyche" Attribute. By attacking with the weakness attribute, you can efficiently reduce the enemy's Break, giving you an advantage in battle.

Recommended Team Characters

We recommend "Jiuyuan," who can activate Esper Cycle: Blossom and also deal continuous damage. The time you are immobilized by the rhythm game-like mechanic is long, so the fact that she can continue to deal damage while you can't move is extremely valuable.

This is a team that leverages Jiuyuan's Blossom enhancement. While activating Remora in coordination with Hathor, you'll deal damage by utilizing Esper Zero's Instant Chain of The Circle.

Characters with Fast Animations are Easier to Use

Image from NTE

The boss's attack intervals are short, so characters with fast animations for Critical Riposte and Basic Attacks are suitable. In particular, a fast Basic Attack startup is required to handle the "3-hit combo" of the rhythm game-like mechanic.

Beat King - Strategy Tips

Handle the Rhythm Patterns

First Pattern (Music Notes)

Second Pattern (Music Notes)

There are two types of patterns in the mechanics that occur during the battle: one at the start of the fight and one from the second time onwards. If you have some grasp of the patterns and can accurately clear the Notes, you can deal massive damage to the boss, making your runs more consistent.

Pay Attention to the Animations

The Beat King is characterized by a very short interval between the red warning indicator and the actual attack. Instead of dodging after seeing the warning, the trick to avoiding damage is to pay close attention to the boss's movements and be ready to dodge from the wind-up animation stage.

Utilize Parry Attacks

Image from NTE

When the boss's HP drops below 50%, it unlocks an attack that can be countered with a Parry Attack. This attack has a large wind-up animation, making it easy to read. Make sure to successfully land a counter to knock the boss down for a period of time.

Beat King - Moveset & How to Beat

Pounce & Two-Handed Disc Press

A 2-hit combo of a pounce and a two-handed disc press that it is guaranteed to use right after the opening rhythm game. It comes out fast, but the timing is fixed, so be prepared and handle it with a Critical Dodge.

Consecutive Disc Presses

An attack where it spins the discs on its sides and presses them down consecutively, one at a time. There's a wind-up animation where it spins the discs before attacking, making it easy to react to, and if you time it right, you can land a Critical Riposte on both hits.

Keyboard Slam & Keyboard Spin

A 2-hit combo where it slams down with the keyboard, then spins it around itself. This also has a clear wind-up animation where it rears back before attacking, so wait for the right moment and aim for consecutive Critical Ripostes.

Keyboard Sweep & Disc Press

A 3-hit combo where it sweeps twice with the keyboard, then presses down with both discs at the same time. It has almost no wind-up, comes out fast, and has a wide range, so quickly move to dodge the moment you see the red warning.

Keyboard Sweep & Spinning Keyboard Charge

An attack where it sweeps twice with a giant keyboard, then charges twice while spinning it around. There is a long delay between the first part (the sweep) and the second part (the charge), so be careful not to attack in between.

Keyboard Swing & Speaker Soundwave

After a 2-hit combo with the keyboard, it summons speakers on both sides of the player and fires soundwaves 3 times. It's characterized by a long delay between the keyboard attack and the soundwaves, and the wide interval between the soundwaves allows you to fit in Basic Attacks.

Triple Soundwave & Charging Shockwave

A major attack where it fires 3 soundwaves from the air, then follows up with a charging landing shockwave. The second and third soundwaves have no warning and a short interval, so it's safer to refrain from using Critical Riposte and focus on dodging until the final shockwave.

Transforming Disc Rush

Parry Attack Success

Parry Attack Fail

An attack unlocked when HP drops below 50%, where it transforms its discs and rushes twice. The rush part can be countered with a Parry Attack, and since it's easy to prepare after seeing the transforming wind-up animation, be sure to aim for the counter.

Consecutive Shocks & Cross/X-shaped Soundwaves

A major attack where it lands and creates 2 circular shockwaves, then fires a total of 7 cross and X-shaped soundwaves around it. Against the soundwaves, by dodging vertically, you can evade two hitboxes with a single dodge, giving you more breathing room.
