What to Do in Hethereau Detention Center

List of Prison Activities

If you find yourself locked up in NTE's Hethereau Detention Center, don't panic! While serving your sentence, you can participate in daily prison work, collect and exchange exclusive items, or even attempt a daring jailbreak.

Volunteer for Work Duties

You can choose to volunteer to work by speaking to a guard inside your cell in the morning or during yard time and selecting the "I'd like to do some work" dialogue option. However, doing chores only rewards you with about 5 Fons, so there is very little benefit to participating in these cleaning duties.

Find Jailbreak Hints in the Cleaning Area

If you approach the door in the cleaning area, you can discover a crucial hint about how to escape. If you manage to obtain the Watchtower Key and other necessary escape tools, you can successfully break out via the watchtower roof!

Scavenge the Prison for Loot

While exploring the detention center, keep an eye out for glowing spots on the ground. You can pick up useful recovery items and exclusive trade items that are only found within the prison walls.

Exchange Items with Inmates

Spider is an NPC who runs his own black market inside the prison. You can trade prison items you've collected for character enhancement materials or even a unique costume for the protagonist!

Escape Detention Center

You don't have to wait for your sentence to end. By taking specific actions, you can pull off a Jailbreak. This allows you to return to the city quickly without paying any fines. If you get caught by the authorities, breaking out is highly recommended!

Alternative: Pay a Fine to Leave

If you have money to burn, you can pay a hefty fine of 30,000 Fons to be released immediately, regardless of how much time is left on your sentence. To do this, try to use the Fast Travel feature from the prison using the map or speak to a Guard and select the I want to pay the fine option.

Spider: Location & Items

Find Spider in His Cell at Night

 *The NPC's appearance and gender change based on the protagonist's gender.

Spider is a key NPC who trades valuable items, including the protagonist's exclusive costume and enhancement materials. To buy his wares, you must trade him Strong Painkillers, which are collected by trading with other inmates. You can only visit Spider during the nighttime cell exploration period.

How to Reach Spider

Directions to Spider's Cell

1. From the initial curfew time position, head left and turn right at the end of the path.

2. Go straight, and Spider will be in the last cell.

To unlock the Unconventional Attire, you need to complete a multi-step trade. First, collect Strong Painkillers and trade them to Spider for "Star Weekly" magazines. Once you have accumulated 15 Star Weekly items, you can finally exchange them for the costume!

How to Get Strong Painkillers

NPCs Who Supply Strong Painkillers

There are three main NPCs who will trade you Strong Painkillers: Crocodile, Gourd, and Squid Ball. Because these painkillers are essential for buying the protagonist's "Unconventional Attire", make sure to visit these NPCs daily!

Crocodile

 *The NPC's appearance and gender change based on the protagonist's gender.

Crocodile is available during yard time. You can find him standing immediately to your right after opening the door behind the starting point of the yard. He will trade 1 Strong Painkiller in exchange for 5 Soap.

How to Find Crocodile

Directions to Crocodile

1. From the yard's starting point, open the door directly behind you to enter the building.

2. Look to your immediate right after walking through the door to spot him.

Gourd

 *The NPC's appearance and gender change based on the protagonist's gender.

Gourd is also available during yard time, but he hangs out by the fence in the yard behind the cafeteria. Gourd will trade 1 Strong Painkiller in exchange for 3 Playing Cards.

How to Find Gourd

Directions to Gourd

1. Open the door behind the yard. Immediately turn right and enter the cafeteria.

2. Walk straight through the cafeteria and pass through the door to the left of the Guard.

3. Exit out into the rear yard through the door marked "EXIT".

4. Pass through the fence opening, and Gourd will be standing on the left side.

Squid Ball

 *The NPC's appearance and gender change based on the protagonist's gender.

Squid Ball is available during the nighttime cell exploration phase. You can find him resting inside his cell. Squid Ball will trade 1 Strong Painkiller in exchange for 2 Weekly Fantasies.

How to Find Squid Ball

1. From the nighttime starting point, walk forward. Squid Ball is located in the very first cell on your front-left.

Events Required for Achievements

There are events in the Detention Facility that are unrelated to escaping or obtaining exchange items. Completing the events will unlock the Achievement "Dawn in Detention".

Inspect Items on the Bookshelf

During nighttime, go to the prison library on the first floor and examine all 3 memos on the bookshelf to complete the event required for the Achievement Dawn in Detention.

Stop the Prisoner's Radio

Steps to Stop the Radio

1. Go to the room with the bookshelf on the first floor and obtain the Dart Tucked in a Book from the back shelf.

2. Talk to the Troubled Prisoner on the second floor and accept their request.

3. Talk to the Leisurely Prisoner standing in front of the adjacent room.

4. Destroy the radio in the room and report back to the Troubled Prisoner to complete.

Talk to the Cook During Yard Time

Steps to Complete the Cook Event

1. Enter the building from the yard and head to the cafeteria by going down the path on the right.

2. Talk to the cook and select the dialogue options below: Dialogue options: 1st: It's just that your cooking smells amazing. 2nd: I'd give it at least a ninety. Still, if today's soup had simmered a bit longer, it would've tasted even better. 3rd: High heat throws off the balance of the ingredients' flavors.

3. Talk to the cook during the next day's lunch time to get the Working Lunch item and Return of the Dawn achievement.

Escape Detention Without Using Escape Items

The hidden Achievement "Breakout Together" can be obtained by escaping the Detention Facility without using any items.

Hidden Achievements Guide

Steps to Obtain "Breakout Together"

1. Finish the lunch break and proceed to exercise time.

2. Get on top of the block near the wire fence.

3. Use a double jump to get on top of the wire fence door.

4. Get on the wire fence and move clockwise along the top of it.

5. Follow the fence to the wall and get on the light attached to it.

6. Climb the wall from the light and get outside the wall.

7. Once outside the wall, you will receive the "Breakout Together" Achievement.
