Where & How to Buy Vehicles

Visit Dealerships

You can purchase new rides directly from dealerships scattered around Hethereau. Once purchased, you will receive the vehicle's key, allowing you to summon it anytime.

Available to Buy at City Tycoon Level 2

Vehicles and bikes in NTE become available for purchase once your City Tycoon Level reaches 2. During the "Legendary Racer" tutorial, you will need to purchase one vehicle, but you can also head directly to the Mall and buy one before progressing through the tutorial.

There are three main dealerships in Hethereau: TerraX, Novus, and Regalia. Each shop sells a unique inventory of vehicles, so you'll need to visit all three to see every available model.

Higher Price = Better Performance

As a general rule, the more expensive the vehicle, the better its stats. If you want to dominate the Racing minigame, you should save up your Fons to buy a car with a high Top Speed and Acceleration.

Tip!	You can also visit a Vehicle Modification Shop to further upgrade your car's top speed, handling, and acceleration!

You Start With a Free Scooter

Don't worry if you're broke, the protagonist owns a scooter by default from the very beginning of the game! Remember, the scooter can be summoned anywhere with enough space.

What to Do if You Can't Buy a Car?

Raise City Tycoon Level to 2

You need to reach City Tycoon Level 2 before you can purchase vehicles or bikes. The City Tycoon feature unlocks after clearing the tutorial "Good Morning Hethereau".

Farm Fons if You're Short on Funds

If you don't have enough Fons to buy a vehicle or bike, focus on farming more currency first. Early in the game, it's recommended to progress through "The Cafe by Origen" (cafe management), which unlocks at City Tycoon Lv. 4, along with Daily Quests to efficiently earn Fons.

How to Drive Vehicles

Use the Key in Your Bag

Once you purchase a vehicle, you can use its Key Fob (press T) to summon it. You must use the key while standing on the side of the road.

Tip!	Scooters are the exception! They can be summoned anywhere, even off-road, as long as there is enough empty space around you.

Set Vehicle Key to Hotbar

You don't need to open your inventory every time you want to drive! Open the Radial Menu (press Tab) and tap the Hotbar icon to add your vehicle key to the shortcut wheel. This allows you to summon your vehicle instantly.

Borrowing (or Stealing) Vehicles

If you need a ride quickly, you can approach NPCs driving around the city. A Requisition prompt will appear. Some friendly drivers will let you drive their vehicle for free!

Warning!

If a driver refuses to lend you their car, you can attack them and force them out to steal it. However, doing so will increase your Wanted Level.

Stealing Increases Your Warrant Level

Driving someone else's parked car without permission, or hijacking a vehicle by force is also possible. However, if you steal a vehicle you will become wanted, and Security Officers will immediately start pursuing you.

The core driving mechanics remain the same whether you are in a car, on a motorcycle, or riding a scooter. However, scooters cannot use the handbrake or switch driving modes.

Use Comfort Mode for Easier Driving

You can toggle between Comfort Mode and Sport Mode at any time. Comfort Mode automatically limits your top speed. This prevents you from losing control of your vehicle, making it highly recommended for players who struggle with tight corners.

How to Drift

You can initiate a drift by turning sharply while holding the handbrake. However, if you are driving too fast, you will slide out of control and miss the turn entirely. Make sure to brake slightly before initiating the drift to adjust your entry speed!

When to Avoid Drifting

Drifting causes a sudden loss of speed and can make your vehicle unstable. In most casual driving situations, it is actually faster and safer to decelerate before a curve and turn normally without using the handbrake.

There are three main categories of personal transport in NTE: Cars, Motorcycles, and Scooters.

Cars

Cars offer the highest top speeds and the best durability. Buying a fast car is a high priority, as owning a car is required to participate in the "Racing" Hethereau Hobby!

Motorcycles

Motorcycles rival cars in speed and are more nimble when going through tight spaces. Be careful though, if you crash into an obstacle at high speeds on a motorcycle, your character will be thrown off the vehicle and take damage!

Scooters

Scooters cap out at around 40 kph, making them the slowest vehicle type. However, they are incredibly convenient for short trips and perfect for safely exploring the city at a relaxed pace.

Durability System & Important Notes

Low Durability Reduces Performance

As your vehicle takes damage, its overall durability drops. A damaged car will suffer a massive penalty to its top speed and handling. To ensure you stay competitive, always repair your vehicle before entering a race!

Unusable at 0 Durability

If you crash too many times and your vehicle's durability hits 0, it will break down completely. You will not be able to drive it again until it is repaired. You can restore durability by paying Fons at a Vehicle Modification Shop or your personal garage.

Jiuyuan's Skill Protects Your Car

The character Jiuyuan has a unique Hethereau Skill specifically designed for drivers. Her passive ability heavily reduces the amount of durability lost when you crash, meaning having Jiuyuan in your roster makes your vehicles much tougher to break!

Warning: Vehicles Can Explode!

If you continuously scrape your vehicle against a wall or obstacle, you will see sparks fly. If you keep driving recklessly while the car is sparking, you will be forced out of the vehicle and it will explode. The explosion instantly drops the vehicle's durability to 0.

Explosions Deals Damage

Not only will your car be destroyed, but getting caught in a vehicle explosion deals a lot of damage to your character. If your car is about to explode, get out and sprint away immediately before it blows up!
