What is 999 Nights Special Mode Challenge?
Required to Clear the Exploration Guide (Nightmare)
Special Mode Challenge is a set of hidden objectives required to complete missions in your Exploration Guide. This feature unlocks when you reach Nightmare difficulty (your third playthrough). Clearing 30 of these objectives will earn you valuable rewards!
You Can Clear Them Anytime
Even though these missions appear in the Nightmare Exploration Guide, they can be completed at any time. You won't be locked out of the rewards if you already cleared them on a previous difficulty setting.
Hidden In-Dungeon Events
Additional content in 999 Nights consists of in-dungeon events, such as interacting with Fuzzies or solving puzzle mechanics like removing invisible walls to get rewards. Since these events do not have map icons, they can be very easy to miss. Keep a close eye on your surroundings while exploring!
How to Complete Special Mode Challenge and Locations
Clear Fuzzy-Related Events
You will find Fuzzies scattered throughout various dungeons waiting for your help. Completing a Fuzzy's request or challenging a black Fuzzy counts as one Special Challenge completed.

Defeat the Golden Pigs
Each dungeon contains 1 to 2 stray Golden Pigs. Defeating them counts toward your Special Challenge progress. Golden Pigs will try to run away when spotted, so attack them as soon as you spot them! If you haven't defeated them yet, use the maps below to track them down.

Dispel Invisible Walls
As you explore, you will encounter invisible walls blocking your path. To dispel them, you need to find and light 3 braziers. Successfully removing an invisible wall counts as one Special Challenge completed.
How to Remove Mysterious BarriersComplete 999 Nights Special Challenges
The 999 Nights Special Challenge can be found at yellow gem icons scattered across the Warren Continent. Clearing these challenges not only rewards you with items like Mystery Buttons, but each completion also counts as a Special Challenge completed.
