What Is Grass / Bush?

Map Features That Can Hide Player Presence

Map Features That Can Hide Player Location

Grass found around the maps will hide the player, as well as their icon from the minimap while they're inside of it. A hidden player will have an eye icon on top of them. Players inside grass are invisible from other Pokemon even when they're in their line of sight.

Use To Ambush & Surprise Enemies

Use To Ambush & Surprise Enemies

Hiding in the grass and lying in wait for any enemy Pokemon that will head there is a good strategy to defend goals. Since they won't see you, they'll think the goal or a Wild Pokemon is free and will likely go there by themselves, unaware of the threat.

A technique you can try is to attack outside the grass, then quickly duck in, rinse & repeat. This will force the enemy Pokemon to come near your grass as you keep disappearing from their line of sight. Some may even retreat due to the uncertainty of entering the grass.

Use To Escape From Enemies

Return Grass

If you find yourself being pursued by an enemy, you can use the grass to hide and break line of sight. This will stop some auto-attacks from being used on you - just make sure to keep moving. Staying in the grass can get you KO'd when the pursuer checks where you last went in.

Being In The Same Grass Reveals Pokemon

Being In The Same Grass Reveals Pokemon

From outside of the grass, players will not be able to see the Pokemon hiding in the grass, but by entering the same grass, the ones inside will be shown. Take note of this when hiding or pursuing Pokemon taking advantage of the grass. When Exposed, the eye icon will have a slash through it.

Scout Ahead When Taking Objectives

Before taking on an objective such as enemy goals, Rotom, or Drednaw, try to circle around the grass nearby to see if anyone's in ambush. This will prevent enemy from jumping you or stealing your capture when you're busy fighting some tough Wild Pokemon.
