What Is Spectate Mode?

Spectate is a feature often found in competitive games such as MOBAs and FPSs. It allows viewers to spectate on-going or finished matches by any player. It can also be used to learn moves, form strategies, and serves as a good opportunity to see techniques used by professional players.

The Spectate feature has been announced to arrive with the upcoming August 4 update. However, this implementation of the Spectate feature will only be a test phase and will end after 3 days. Make sure to enjoy this mode while it's still available, as it's not known when it will come back

Accessing The Spectator Mode

To spectate, press the X button then press the up button on the d-pad. You should see Spectate just above Settings. Next, press the A button to directly access spectate mode.
Three Types Of Matches To Spectate

There are 3 matches that can be spectated, you can spectate top-ranking trainers from all over the world either in Ranked Matches, Standard Matches, or Quick Battles.
During Spectator Mode

Once you're in spectator mode, you can see the scores of each team above, as well as the goal scores for each individual Pokemon below.
Spectator Mode Features
During spectator mode you can also fast forward the match with the Y Button and pause the match with the X Button. You can also change your current PoV Pokemon with the L and R buttons.
