Defeating it will give a barrier on your team's goal zone, the team will be protected by an Ice Shield which can also damage opponents. Take note that the ice shield will break once you've taken enough damage, and that Avalugg can be defeated multiple times - respawning 30 seconds after its defeat.

Tips When Fighting Avalugg

Beating Avalugg Should Be A Team Priority

Beating Avalugg

Defeating Avalugg can really benefit your team, as it can help you put a barrier on your team's Goal zone so the opposing team won't be able to score. The shield and ice barrier are also handy in team fights.

Do Not Engage First

Do Not Engage First

One possible strategy is to play safe and wait for the other team to engage Avalugg first just like with Zapdos. Since Avalugg is a very tough Pokemon with high defense status, so engaging it alone might be too hard for you, the best suggestion is that you wait for your team or wait for the opposing team to strike first at Avalugg.

Be Ready To Strike While Your Opponents Are Away

Judge the state of battle and see if any enemy is going after Avalugg. If they're not, engage against Avalugg, just make sure to always have a backup just in case they do come for it.

Get Points From Wild Pokemon For The Team

Clear a few wild Pokemon to get points if you still have time before the battle finishes to give your team additional points. Just be cautious not to get killed because it can take some time for you to revive and rejoin the fight.
